In many communities, you’ll hear longtime business owners talk about the days when hard work and high quality were normal expectations. That hasn’t changed in Altavista, Virginia. Generation after generation has grown up in a community that takes pride in performing a full day of work and exceeding expectations for quality — along with being accountable to both their employers and their neighbors.
Our residents understand the value of working smarter, too. Today, those standards don’t end with our highly-rated K-12 school system, which draws upon an outstanding CTE program within Campbell County and the STEM resources of XLR8: Lynchburg Regional Governor’s STEM Academy. Many high school students elect for dual enrollment at CVCC where they can obtain college credits and certifications prior to graduation.
After high school, residents sharpen the skills employers need through our Virginia Technical Institute campus and at Central Virginia Community College which houses the region’s Career & Technical Academy. Liberty University’s broad array of graduate and undergraduate programs is just a half-hour away. University of Lynchburg, Randolph College, Sweet Briar College, and nearby Averett University all offer a variety of bachelor and graduate programs.
